History of Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal was constructed by a Mughal emperor Shah-Jahan. He built it in memory of his love “Mumtaj Mahal“. More than twenty thousand workers contributed to its construction for twenty-two years.
Even after the construction of such a beautiful place, Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb.
Architecture of Taj Mahal Agra
The Taj Mahal was built-in Islamic architecture. The chief architect who built it was Ustad Ahmad Lahori.
The white sangamarmar, which is the best quality of marble makes it adorable. Makrana town of Jodhpur in Rajasthan is famous for this type of marble. The carvings on it are beautiful.
There are five sections of this complex which are the Main gateway, Garden, Mosque, Jawab, and Mausoleum. The southern end of this palace has carvings on red sandstone. The “main gateway” is the Huge gate of marble, that has carvings of ornaments, petals, and flowers.
There is a “garden” with fountains in front of this palace. It is a calm place to relax. Then, a “Mosque” is located on the western side. Another section of this palace is “Jawab” which is a guest house facing the mosque.
The color of taj mahal changes with time. It varies from blue, red, orange, yellow and many more which depends on the time. Tourists from all around the world visit this adorable place.

After reaching Agra, You can hire a taxi or cab from Agra railway station or bus stand to reach this place.

Domestic or Indian citizen- 50rs + 200 rs(for mausoleum)
Foreign tourist- 1100rs + 200 rs(for mausoleum)
SAARC or BIMSTEC citizen- 540rs + 200 rs(for mausoleum)
