Amber Fort is among the best places to visit in India. It shows the glory and glamorous lifestyle of Maharajas of Jaipur.

Amber Fort is a UNESCO world heritage site that has magnificent architecture. Yellow sandstone with beautiful carvings glows in the sunlight.

After the entrance, you see some beautiful pigeons feeding on the floor. Then after taking some footsteps, there is a lake, with colorful fishes.

This lake is famous as “Maota Sarovar” which gets most of the water in monsoon season. A mirror image of the fort in this lake makes it a pleasant scene.    

Jaipur is one of the hottest places in Rajasthan. Sometimes, Its temperature reaches from 45℃ to 50 ℃. So, better to prepare well before visiting this city.

The way to go upstairs is not easy. As you go upstairs, you can see the amazing view of landscapes with the lake. Then you see a large entrance gate which gives a royal feeling.

Elephant Ride at Amber Fort:

Elephants are things of attraction among tourists in Jaipur. Tourists get this adventurous elephant ride to go to the fort. Although there are some other options available like hiring a taxi and going upstairs. but, riding an elephant is the best one, I think.    

cost of elephant ride- The cost to ride an elephant is 1500 to 2000 INR that depends on the time of the visit.

Now after reaching on the top, all you can see is the crowd of the tourists. There is a “Shila Devi temple”. in this fort. Thousands of people come here in this temple during festival season. 

As Jaipur surrounds with walls, these walls can be seen from this fort. There are Entry Gates in this fort, which are Jai Pol, Ganesh Pol, Chand Pol, and some others.

Sheesh Mahal 

Sheesh Mahal is one of the best places in this fort. It is a beautiful palace with mirrors on the walls. There are some unique designs of elephants, camel and some other attractions in this palace. The mosaics of the mirror and reflection make it an awesome place.

Kesar Bagh

Kesar Bagh in the amber fort is another thing of attraction. This is popular as Kesar Kyari which is the garden of Kesar (saffron). This can be a pleasant view from the top of the fort.

In the courtyard of the fort, the architecture is magnificent. Puppet shows and music shows can be good experiences.

The palace in this fort gives a royal feeling. Those panoramic views of Nahargarh Fort and Jaigarh forts.

There is a tunnel in this fort from the amber fort to Jaigarh Fort. But. it was under maintenance when I visited this fort.

History of Amber Fort:  

Amber Fort was built in the 16th century. This fort has seen many rulers of Rajput dynasty over time. It was built by rulers of Kachawaha dynasty including Sawai Man Singh and others.  

By the presence of Amba Mata temple, this town was popular as Ambikeshwar, which is now famous as Amer or amber. Amer is about 12 kilometers from Jaipur city.

There are some handicraft shops, where you can buy some handmade items like puppets, jewellery, and some traditional antiques.

Don’t forget to buy or rent a multicolor bandana (Rajasthani pagdi), which shows the culture of India.
