|Amber Fort Jaipur
Amber Fort is among the best places to visit in Jaipur. It was ruled by Rajput rulers of Rajasthan. It shows the glory and glamorous lifestyle of Maharajas of Jaipur.
Amber fort is a UNESCO world heritage site which has magnificent architecture. It’s made of yellow sandstone with beautiful carvings which were made in Indo-Mughal style. It was built on a hill to protect it from invaders. This fort is surrounded by greeneries and landscapes.
After the entrance, you see some beautiful pigeons feeding on the floor. Then after taking some footsteps, there is a lake, with many fishes where peoples feed them corn and eatables. This lake is known as “Maota Sarovar” which gets most of the water in monsoon season. A mirror image of the fort in this lake makes it a pleasant scene.

Now comes a garden, where we relax for a few minutes then headed upstairs. Jaipur is one of the hottest places in Rajasthan. Sometimes, Its temperature reaches 45℃ to 50 ℃. So, better to prepare well before visiting this city.
The way to go upstairs is not easy as stairs have wide gape. You get tired even after some time. As you go upstairs, you can see more and more beautiful views. The lake, garden, and landscapes, all of the things on the way give an inspiration. Then you see an entrance gate which gives a royal feeling.

Elephants are things of attraction among tourists in the amber fort. Tourists get this adventurous elephant ride to go to the fort. Although there are some other options available like hiring a taxi and going upstairs but riding an elephant is the best one, I think.

Now after reaching on the top, all you can see is the crowd of the tourists. There is a temple in this fort known as “Shila Devi temple”. A fair is organized in navratra for 9 days. Thousands of people come here in festival season.
As Jaipur city is surrounded by walls, these walls can be seen from this fort. There are some gates in this fort, which are known as Jai Pol, Ganesh Pol, Chand Pol, and some other royal looking gates. This place attracts many tourists as it’s unique and shows a rich history of Rajasthan.
Sheesh Mahal is one of the best places in this fort. It’s a beautiful palace with mirrors on the walls. There are some unique designs of elephants, camel and some other attractions in this palace. As it’s made of mirrors so, this is known as sheesh mahal. The mosaics of mirror and reflection of light makes it an awesome place. No one can say that this palace was made about 400 years ago.

|Kesar Bagh in the amber fort is another thing of attraction. In the lake, which is known as Maota Sarovar, there is a garden of Kesar (saffron) where Kesar was grown. This can be a pleasant view from the top of the fort. This is called as Kesar Kyari.
In the courtyard of the fort, the architecture can be experienced. Puppet shows and musicians playing some traditional instruments are other things which attract eyes. It shows the culture of Rajasthan. The palaces in this fort give a royal feeling as these are made with beautiful carvings and designs. Those panoramic views with the views of Nahargarh Fort and Jaigarh forts are magnificent.
The tunnel in this fort was made to give protection from the enemy. In the time of the attack, they used a tunnel to go away from the enemies. It heads to Jaigarh and Nahargarh Fort. Now, this tunnel is blocked for security reasons.
Amber Fort was built in the 16th century. This fort has seen many rulers of Rajput dynasty over time. It was built by various rulers of Kachawaha dynasty including Sawai Man Singh and other rulers. As they had family relations with the Mughal dynasty, they lived without any fear of war and spent a royal life.
By the presence of Amba Mata temple, this town was known as Ambikeshwar, which is now known as Amer or amber. Amer is about 12 kilometers from Jaipur city.

|There are many things of attraction in this fort. Garden, landscapes, haveli’s and the traditional Rajasthani music make it a delightful place. Garden near the entrance, Landscapes all around the fort, Sheesh Mahal and haveli’s in the fort, Diwan-e-aam, and diwan-e-khaas, Shila Devi temple, Elephant ride, Musicians playing traditional Rajasthani instruments and the pleasant views from the top of the fort are attractive in this fort.

- Take breakfast and stay hydrated
- Visit in the morning if possible
- Keep your cap/hat if it’s summer
At the exit of the gate, there are some puppet shows and musicians playing Rajasthani instruments. One of the most popular Rajasthani musical instrument is Rawan-Hatha which is made of string on a coconut shell. It sounds great pleasing music. There are some handicraft shops, where you can buy some handmade items like puppets, jewellery, and some traditional antiques. Don’t forget to buy or rent a multicolor bandana (Rajasthani pagdi), which shows the culture of India.
